Now Parenting: Week 53

Sunday: Awake before 7am. With Alexandra for over 100 minutes again from after 7am, including checking out some of her new gifts and Mom's shoe. Then breakfast, and out for brunch with my parents - Father's Day buffet at Lansdowne, so that was nice. Alexandra fell asleep driving away, so no weighing, home by noon. I work on finishing up my time travel column; visited after 1pm with lovely cards and gift. (Little one got me the same card I got for my dad. ;.; ) Grading again from 2pm. Upstairs just over a half hour later for Alexandra time, then out for walk at 3:45pm; I return after 4:15pm for more grading. Pop upstairs an hour later to help with food and change, back down. Again after an hour, upstairs at 6:45pm for dinner and routine. Back to grading at 7:45pm. Break at 9pm. Little one needs me before 9:30pm (found sitting up again, there's been more of that lately). After 10pm, sort of grading. Downstairs before midnight.

Monday: Partially awake before 5:30am, hearing little one. Was dreaming of trying to balance work/life, after arriving at school late due to snow, went to rehearsal but should have been class except I forget which room. Then tracking a student on bike and hear Schrum saying I shouldn't be dipping cookies into guacamole. Anyway. Fully awake by 6:15am, grading. With Alexandra for over half an hour from about 6:45am, then breakfast and standard school, with extra time given at lunch. Some phone calls, shopping, home after 5pm. Over a half hour with little one but there's tears and her hands are at her mouth, likely more teeth. Dinner at 6pm and routine (I read the special story that makes me tear up). But then from 7pm constant issues every five minutes or so. Twenty minutes with me does nothing. I do a half hour of grading, Mom is more successful. Back with little one at 9:30pm, tidy kitchen, back again before 10pm, then more grading. Downstairs after 11pm, not immediately to sleep.

Tuesday: Someone's BIRTHDAY. Awake by 6am. Adjusted her video, then with Alexandra from 6:45am. One year pictures by 7:15am, and I head to school by 7:45am, to catch end of grad breakfast. Then I'm bouncing around the school as they're waxing my classroom, giving exam info and timbits to students. Assembly, then lunch (I show little one's video), then afternoon classes, then staff meeting/social for retirees. Leave school 5pm, stop by card store (and to get dinner), home 6pm. (They were at central library today, play group still a no go.) Had an hour of play, which includes opening last gift (from Gill), and goofing around with my tie. Her dinner after 7pm, including cake, and story is her new birthday book. I briefly lie down 8pm, then tidy up, then need to take over with Alexandra 8:30pm. Dinner 9pm, all quiet after; I assemble the SQ figmas I'd wanted to get to Sunday, downstairs after 11pm.

Wednesday: Awake 5am, had dreamt something about a student and then walking dogs that didn't get along. Managed more sleep, dreamt I was taking a data exam, found money in a textbook, then suddenly walking in the morning and more dogs around. Awake 6:30am. With Alexandra for 45 minutes from before 6:45am. (Apparently she dropped off bed again about 2:30am? We had some bottle and more play with her gifts.) Then breakfast and to school via mailbox for first exam. Relaxing lunch with tip on daycares (morning parks), showed video again, did grading. Home by 4:30pm, out again 5pm for outside playgroup. Much fun there including on little trike, but then sneeze unbalanced and I couldn't catch her. Tears. Better after with fruit freezies. Home by 7pm, straight to bath (crawling on parking lot at times); dinner cooked by 8pm so chance for relaxing. In to help little one after 9pm. Fall asleep in chair. Downstairs 10pm.

Thursday: Awake 5:30am, so 6+ hours sleep. Had dreamt about a forth BTTF movie where they're older and going back to revise the prior movies, and there was a music video about it. Eventually grading, then with Alexandra for 45 minutes from 6:30am. Breakfast, second exam day at school. A little after lunch, I'm caught up to where I'd wanted to be yesterday evening. Shopping on the way home, arrive 5:30pm, play with Alexandra for over an hour. (She liked the swings in the park earlier!) Dinner before 7pm, bath, two books at bedtime, she's not asleep until 8pm. Dishes, in with her before 9:30pm, and manage some grading. Downstairs after 11pm.

Friday: Awake after 6am, dreamt had to leave car under an overpass because it might go through the ice? Then was a teaching assistant at school. Anyway, with Alexandra for 45 minutes from before 6:45am, then to school. Largely productive (graded data summatives, breaks for a student writing an evaluation and students who wanted to study using room). Home before 5:30pm, everyone asleep, bit more grading. With Alexandra for 1.5 hours after 5:45pm, dinner after 7:30pm. I briefly collapse around 8:45pm. In with Alexandra after 10pm, downstairs by 10:30pm.

Saturday: Awake 5:30am, grading. Get Alexandra at 7am, after a night where she wouldn't sleep, so yikes. Two hours with her, then get ready to go out to Teddy Bears at Governor Generals, there until 11am, back home and another 2.5 hours until about 2:30pm when I'm free to do more grading. Yaaay, took a half hour break anyway. Called back up before 5:30pm for an hour, looked at laundry with Alexandra as well as a figma. Dinner after 6:30pm, routine, then I'm making dinner and grading. In for soothing before 8pm. Dinner about 9:30pm after AL goes to sleep. Back into grading about an hour later. Then with little one for almost two hours after 12am, including 9 ounces and a change. Downstairs after 2am.
