Now Parenting: Week 32

Sunday: Alexandra slept through to 4:44am! I woke not long after that, was with her for a couple hours after 5:30am (including snooze). Breakfast, snow shovelling for first major storm of 2019, pool time, home after 10am. More time with little one when she wakes as Mom makes dinner, eventually go for downtime. Meanwhile, Alexandra resists sleep so Mom walks a dark corridor until it leads to a 1.5 hour snooze. Some back and forth, music needed for snooze after 5pm. Dinner (rough), bath (okay), in crib before 7:30pm. Then after 9pm I manage to break a bowl in the dish rack while putting away the leftover lasagna (last thing that bowl will ever know :( ), which wakes Alexandra. About twenty minutes to settle her, then I head downstairs. No lunar eclipse for the weary. Even when I visit upstairs again briefly after 10pm.

Monday: Woken up after 4am, couldn't get back to sleep. With Alexandra for 90 min from 5:30am, including a snooze that she needed but REALLY resisted. Standard school on a bitterly cold day. Home after 2pm, resisting a snooze in progress. Ended up doing both saline and first administration of Tylenol (no fever, likely her tooth coming in). Then snoozed for 75 min at 3pm. Then played for 75 min, then early dinner. In crib before 7pm (after small nail trim), but then issues every 20 minutes or so after that. Settled by 8:30pm, downstairs after 9pm, spent.

Tuesday: Woken at 5am but that does mean 6 hours sleep (and little one slept well to then). With Alexandra for about 45 minutes until 7am, breakfast, standard school with some lunch help. Home before 1:30pm, but little one's asleep, so grading. Then with her almost an hour, then hit a wall and needed an hour of sleep. Then even though Alexandra had woken up she was fussing and rubbing her eyes, so ended up with another snooze 45 minutes later, for 45 minutes. Dinner after 6pm, in crib before 8pm, then eerily silent. (Tried to figure out TV issues.) 2.5 hours later, some bottle and back down. Then a half hour of much bottle starting just before midnight.

Wednesday: Woke after 6am to find Alexandra had been awake for close to two hours already. With her for an hour from 6:30am, snooze didn't work, had to shovel crazy amount of snow, no busses for schools. Some students, left to get home and do more shovelling, inside by 1:30pm. Stroller wouldn't have worked, so Sign Class needed baby bjorn for first time. Collapsed half an hour, then with Alexandra 2.5 hours - over half of that a snooze (she hadn't slept much since 4am). Back to mom at 5pm, but some freezing pellets so didn't do driveway again, quick rest. Dinner 6pm, crib by 7:30pm, but then a couple restless moments. Went downstairs 9pm, beat.
Asides: She's started this trend of leaning forwards (even in chairs), as well as sleeping by leaning back against me, still kind of sitting up.

Thursday: Awakened 4am, then everyone else got back to sleep. Went out 5:45am to try and deal with driveway. Car got stuck trying to do a 3 point turn on our unplowed road. Freed only with help from nice neighbour who lives near the ice trough. Phoned in weather issues, came in 7am when others were waking up but I was beat again. Managed breakfast after 8am, sent a work update, snooze with Alexandra at 9am. Then another work update, and phoned city (311) to get a plow (also called Rogers). Dishes, handling ice, then to play group with Alexandra. Home, couldn't sleep, dinner for her at 5:30pm (she hardly slept all day either), crib before 7pm. Nose issues before 8pm, then awake twice after during comic chat. (Also, took a radio survey so phone wouldn't ring...) Downstairs by 10:30pm.

Friday: Awoken 12:30am as street got more cleared of snow. Heard little one awaken at 1:30am, managed to sleep again until 6am. With Alexandra for 45 minutes, breakfast, to school (finally) for exams (room setup, etc). Morning went okay, then had to pick up diaper bag that I forget on Thurs, and stop by store. Home 2pm, a snooze of 1 hr 20 min, and almost immediately back out to math gathering (arriving after 4pm). Home again after 6pm, bit of play, then bedtime routine. I can't handle calming her as I wrestle with Excel, my wife steps in. Little one stays asleep past 11pm when I go downstairs, beyond exhausted.
Aside: She doesn't fuss when she spits up, so sometimes it's hard to notice right away.

Saturday: Wake up after 4am, because my body hates me. With Alexandra for 2.5 hours from 6:30am, but last 1.5 hours was a long snooze (with some one handed computing). Attempt to rest, no dice, deal with writing. Three hours of Alexandra time again near 11:30am, including two snoozes at start and end. Again no dice on sleep. Manage to get a last snooze for her at 4:45pm, then quick shopping trip. Dinner from 6:30pm (trying chicken broth), then routine. Anne-Lise sets up the bluray (and tv randomly works). I go downstairs 8pm to try and actually get some school work done. Munchkin visit at 9:30pm goes horribly wrong whenever I try to leave. Took dinner at 10:30pm. Still grading an hour later during final cry. I loathe January.
